Canvas Coverage Cheatsheet

  • Closed

This simple piece of paper solves one of the biggest acrylic pouring problems.

Don't Pour Without it!

One of the biggest problems with acrylic pouring is not knowing how much paint to use on your canvas.

Too little paint: It's difficult to cover your canvas and edges, your design and cells get overstretched, and your colors can become muddy.

Too much paint: your painting is susceptible to cracking, a lot of paint is wasted, and your design might not reach its full potential.

I developed these cheatsheets based on my own pouring experience. I refer to them every time I create a painting. There are two calculations that I use. One for flip cup pours and one for ring pours.

I created these two cheatsheets, (one using inches and ounces, the other using centimeters and milliliters) to avoid calculating my paint quantity every time.

These quantities have worked very well for me on a wide range of different canvas sizes.

I hope you find them as useful and valuable as I have. Happy Pouring!
